The Lead

Indiana native Gary Harris made all six of his 3-point attempts and finished with a season-high 22 points and Paolo Banchero scored 23 points – his 26th20-plus-point performance this season – as the Orlando Magic held off the Pacers 126-120 on Wednesday for their ninth home win in their last 12 games at Amway Center.

Clutch Moments

After the Pacers pulled within five with under two minutes left in the game, the Magic reclaimed control with a Markelle Fultz layup and a pair of free throws from Banchero.

Interesting Notes

Harris also scored 22 points and made six triples (went 6-fot-11 that night) in a game against the Pacers last season. That contest – also a Magic victory – was in Indianapolis, about a 25-minute drive from where the 6-foot-4 guard grew up in Fishers, Indiana. By going 6-for-6 from downtown in Wednesday’s contest, Harris tied the team record for most threes made in a game without a miss. Mickael Pietrus also went 6-for-6 from 3-point land on April 1, 2010 at Dallas.

Key Stats

The Magic, who never trailed, dished out a season-best 34 assists. It was just the second time this year Orlando had at least 30 of them. Orlando also shot a season-high 53.6 percent from 3-point range. It was the fourth straight game they made at least 40 percent of their shots from beyond the arc.

Injury Report

Chuma Okeke (left knee injury recovery) was out for the Magic. Tyrese Haliburton (knee), Andrew Nembhard (illness), and Daniel Theis (knee) were unavailable for the Pacers.

On Tuesday, Franz Wagner and Harris visited AdventHealth for Children to lift the spirits of pediatric patients. Many Magic players over the years have come by the hospital to play games with the kids, bring them gifts, and boost their spirits – just as Harris and Wagner did Tuesday. AdventHealth for Children staff have seen what that can do for patients when it comes to their physical and mental health. READ MORE>>>

This Day in History

On Jan. 25 of their inaugural season, the Magic beat the New Jersey Nets behind 36 points from Reggie Theus and 18 points from Sam Vincent. Charles Shackleford had one of his best games of his career with 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets, while Sam Bowie, infamously chosen between Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan in the 1984 NBA Draft by the Blazers, had 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Rivals Report

The Pacers will certainly be a team to keep an eye on at the trade deadline. We know Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin aren’t going anywhere, but who knows about the rest of the roster. Before Haliburton’s injury, Indiana was the East’s biggest surprise – and maybe when he returns from his injury they will get back on track. For now, though, they will have to decide what to do with their veterans – notably Myles Turner and Buddy Hield.

Up Next

The Magic will take a short flight down to Miami to take on their Sunshine State rivals, the Heat, on Friday at 8 p.m. ET. This will be the first of four meetings between them. The Heat are coming off a thrilling win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 30 points and 15 rebounds, while Haywood Highsmith, a former Division II college player, recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds.
