Yesterday, the NBA announced that Paolo Banchero, the impressive young forward for the Orlando Magic, has been named to the 2023 NBA-All Rookie 1st Team. Banchero, who just two weeks ago received the NBA Rookie of the Year recognition, was the only rookie to be unanimously selected to the All-Rookie 1st Team. Joining Banchero on the All-Rookie 1st Team are Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler, Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin, Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray, and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams.
Banchero’s selection to the All-Rookie 1st Team comes as no surprise to those who have followed his impressive rookie campaign. The 6’10” forward out of Duke University was a force on the court all season long, averaging an impressive 20 points per game, 6.9 rebounds per game, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 42.7% from the field.
Banchero’s versatility and all-around game were on full display throughout the season, as he showed the ability to score from anywhere on the court, rebound effectively, and create opportunities for his teammates.
