San Antonio Spurs guard Devonte’ Graham recently faced consequences for an incident dating back to July 2022. The NBA has handed down a two-game suspension without pay following Graham’s guilty plea to an impaired driving charge. The incident took place when Graham was pulled over for driving 63 mph in a 40 mph zone at 2:39 a.m. on July 7, 2022. During the traffic stop, signs of impairment were evident, leading to his arrest. Subsequent tests revealed a breath alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.11, exceeding the state limit of 0.08.

Graham’s legal journey concluded with a guilty plea to a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge. Notably, a speeding charge initially tied to the DWI charge was dropped in late June, highlighting the legal complexities at play in his case.

The NBA’s response was swift and decisive, resulting in a two-game suspension without pay. This penalty will take effect from the next NBA regular season game for which Graham is eligible.

Graham’s basketball trajectory also experienced a shift, transitioning from the New Orleans Pelicans to the San Antonio Spurs. Through a trade involving four second-round picks, Graham joined the Spurs in exchange for Josh Richardson. This move granted Graham an expanded role within the Spurs roster, where he showcased his skills, averaging 13.0 points in just 20 games.
