David Ensignia Tennis Academy opens DETA Pickleball Club, the largest outdoor pickleball center in greater Miami

David Ensignia Tennis Academy announces the opening of DETA Pickleball Club at the
Miccosukee Golf & Country Club with 16 championship-grade courts and weekly classes, clinics, match play and round robins, making it the most complete and largest pickleball program in Miami-Dade County.

“We know the county and local municipalities are eager to meet the insatiable demand for pickleball courts,” said David Ensignia Sr., the founder and president of David Ensignia Tennis Academy. “We’ve built the community a place to play. Yet our club is more than just a collection of courts. It’s where people of all ages can learn a new sport, make friends and have fun.”

David Ensignia Tennis Academy added pickleball in 2022, converting several tennis courts at Miccosukee Golf & Country Club, 6401 Kendale Lakes Drive, into eight dedicated pickleball courts. The tennis academy, which has four locations in South Dade, recently established the club, adding lighting and expanding to 16 courts.

DETA Pickleball Club is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Players can reserve courts for $10 an hour or register for classes, clinics and competitions. DETA offers the largest DUPR rating program in South Florida, with match play four nights a week so rising stars can test their skills against the best and reach the next level of play.

DETA Pickleball Club has nine Professional Pickleball Registry–certified coaches and pros. It’s recognized by the USA Pickleball Association’s Pickleball Magazine as a “must visit” pickleball destination in Florida and the U.S. It’s already on the radar of top U.S. pickleball organizations, with plans for regional, state and national events.

“We’ve become a go-to for pickleball and for recreation,” said Stephane Jolicoeur, head pro at DETA Pickleball Club. “Apart from the competition on the courts, players are hosting events with friends, and companies are eager to plan pickleball employee retreats.”

The club also takes pickleball on the road. Recently, it set up courts for Baptist Health South Florida so employees could give the game a shot. Nightshift employees were seen dinking until the wee hours.

“The appeal of the game is its accessibility. It’s easy to learn and to play,” Jolicoeur said. “It’s inclusive and, ultimately, that’s what our club aims to be.”
