The family of Dwayne Haskins, a former NFL quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has filed a lawsuit alleging a “blackmail and robbery conspiracy” in relation to his death on April 9th, 2022. The lawsuit, filed by Haskins’ widow Kalabrya Haskins, lists multiple defendants ranging from businesses to the dump truck driver and the Florida Department of Transportation.

According to the autopsy report, Haskins was drugged on the night of his death, as he tested positive for ketamine and norketamine while also exceeding the blood-alcohol level, which was more than twice the legal limit. It was reported that Haskins was killed by a dump truck when he attempted to cross oncoming traffic on the westbound lanes of Interstate 595.

The lawsuit alleges that the defendants were involved in a conspiracy to rob and blackmail Haskins, leading to his death. The businesses listed in the lawsuit include Drive Shack in West Palm Beach, a Wyndham hotel in Boca Raton, Blue Anchor Pub in Delray Beach, and Miami’s E11EVEN nightclub. The lawsuit also alleges that the dump truck driver and the Florida Department of Transportation were negligent in their actions, leading to Haskins’ death.

Kalabrya Haskins, the plaintiff and personal representative of the Haskins’ estate, is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages related to Haskins’ death. The lawsuit raises serious questions about the circumstances surrounding Haskins’ death and the actions of the defendants in relation to his alleged blackmail and robbery.

Haskins was a talented quarterback who played college football at Ohio State before being drafted by the Washington Football Team in 2019. He was released by Washington in 2020 and signed with the Steelers in 2021, but was released by the team after just one season. Haskins’ death was a tragic loss for his family and the NFL community, and the lawsuit filed by his family raises important questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
